Can You Get Same Day Window Glass Repair? (How Our Photo Quote Works)

The short answer

Quick answer: Often, yes. Same day window glass repair is possible when it's regular-size clear glass and we have an opening that day. The first step is pictures, not a sales visit: send two photos, get a price, usually within minutes during business hours, and book. We offer same-day or same-week appointments when available, and same day costs the same as any other day.

A ball through the back window on a Tuesday afternoon. A crack you noticed while making coffee. You want it handled, but you don't want to take a morning off work just so someone can come look at it and hand you a quote.

You don't have to. Our process starts with your phone, not an appointment. Here's how the photo quote works, what can be fixed on the same visit, what has to be ordered, and how to give yourself the best chance at a quick fix.

Who can fix a broken window today near me?

A local glass repair team with a mobile truck is your best bet. We serve Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester counties in Pennsylvania, plus 13 counties in New Jersey, and our mobile glass truck does the work at your home or business. Same-day or same-week appointments when available. Send photos first so we can quote and schedule fast.

What makes a quick fix possible is having the glass and the tools on the truck. Our mobile glass truck pulls up at your door, and regular-size clear single or double-pane glass is usually replaced right there, in one visit, most of the time within 2 hours. You don't need to take the window out or drive it anywhere.

If the glass is broken and the opening is exposed, board-up is available on request while you wait. For an urgent break, our emergency window glass repair guide covers what to do first.

How does the photo quote work?

You send two photos, we review them for free, and if they show what we need, we can usually send a price within minutes during business hours. You decide whether to book. No one has to come to your house to give you a number, and you don't need to know the glass type or part names.

Here's the whole flow, start to finish:

  1. Take photo one. Stand inside and get the full window in the frame, edge to edge. This shows us the size and type of window.
  2. Take photo two. A close-up of the problem: the crack, the break, the fog, or the broken part.
  3. Send them. Start at https://2hourglass.com/start-service, or text them to (267) 458-7879.
  4. Get your price. We review the photos and send you a price, usually within minutes during business hours. If something isn't clear, we'll ask a quick question or for one more photo.
  5. Pick a time. Same-day or same-week appointments when available.
  6. We come to you. The technician does the work on site, then removes the old glass, disposes of it, and cleans up.

Our business hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday, 9 AM to 2 PM ET. We're closed Sundays. If you send photos outside those hours, we'll reply when we're back, and if it's an emergency, include your ZIP code so we can tell you what's possible.

What photos should I send for a window glass quote?

Two photos usually do it: one of the full window taken from inside, and one close-up of the damage. Make sure the whole window is in the first shot, edges included, and that the problem is in focus in the second. That's usually all we need.

A few tips that help us price it faster:

  • Shoot from inside if you can. It shows the sash and frame more clearly.
  • Get the whole window in. If part of the window is cut off, we may need to ask for another photo.
  • Turn on a light or open the blinds. Clear, bright photos are easier to read.
  • Show anything unusual. Patterned or tinted glass is easier for us to identify when it's clearly visible.
  • Mention the problem in a sentence. "Cracked," "foggy between the panes," or "won't stay up" is plenty.

Don't worry about measuring. If we need exact sizes, we'll take care of that.

Can every window be fixed the same day?

No. Regular-size clear glass is usually replaced in one visit. Tempered, textured, colored, and Low-E or argon glass has to be made to order, so we measure first and return to install, usually 2 to 3 weeks later. Tempered glass always needs ordering, even when it's clear.

  • Regular-size clear single-pane glass
    • What to expect: Usually one visit, most of the time within 2 hours
  • Regular-size clear double-pane glass
    • What to expect: Usually one visit, most of the time within 2 hours
  • Tempered glass (common in doors)
    • What to expect: Measure first, install when it arrives, usually 2 to 3 weeks
  • Low-E or argon double-pane glass
    • What to expect: Measure first, install when it arrives, usually 2 to 3 weeks
  • Textured or colored glass
    • What to expect: Measure first, install when it arrives, usually 2 to 3 weeks
  • Rotted frame, or a frame too cracked or warped to hold glass
    • What to expect: May need a new window instead of a repair

A couple of quick definitions. Tempered glass is safety glass that breaks into small pieces instead of sharp shards. Low-E glass has a thin, invisible coating that reflects heat. Argon is a gas sealed between the panes of some double-pane units.

How fast we can get to you also depends on the day's schedule and where you are. We'll always tell you the real timing before you book.

What can be repaired on site?

Most broken, cracked, and foggy glass, plus the hardware that makes windows open, close, lock, and stay up. Our mobile glass truck lets us do the work at your home or business. Glass is replaced in your existing frame, so the window stays in the wall.

What we handle on site:

  • Broken or cracked window glass
  • Foggy double-pane glass (failed seal)
  • Window hardware: balances, locks and keepers, tilt latches, cranks and operators, hinges, sliding rollers and guides, pivot shoes, and handles
  • Window screens: rescreen or a new screen
  • Sliding and patio door glass, entry door glass, and storefront and commercial door glass

What we don't do: full window sales or frame installation, and we don't promise door lock or roller repairs, though we can take a look or refer you to a partner we trust. If your frame is rotted or broken apart, a new window may be the right answer, and we'll tell you that plainly. You can read more in our guide to whether to repair or replace windows.

How much does same day window glass repair cost?

It's priced like any other job: by the size and type of glass and what the window needs. We don't charge more for same day than for any other day; it's a matter of availability. If we're already fully booked and it's a serious same-day need, there may be an extra charge to make room in the schedule, depending on your situation. We need your photos and ZIP code first, and your quote will show the full price before you book. Send two photos for your exact price, usually within minutes during business hours.

Each job is priced on its own, so you get a fair price for the right repair. For what moves that price, see our guide to window glass replacement cost.

Is same-day glass covered by a warranty?

Yes. Double-pane glass we install comes with our Lifetime Seal Warranty. If the seal fails and fog or moisture shows up between the panes, covered labor and materials cost you nothing. The warranty stays no matter who owns the property, as long as the glass is still in the same window, the sash is still in the same frame, and nothing has been altered. It doesn't cover impact or misuse damage. Details are at https://2hourglass.com/warranty.

What customers say

"...my broken windows were repaired on the spot in about an hour by a highly professional, skilled and friendly employee. (Thank you, Aiden!) I sent photos and received a reasonable quote within minutes, and the fix took place just two days later. (Could have been the same or next day had my schedule accommodated that!)..."

Frequently asked questions

Can you fix my window today?

Often, if it's regular-size clear glass and we have an opening. We offer same-day or same-week appointments when available, and sending photos early in the day gives you the best chance.

How much does it cost?

Every job is priced individually, based on the size and type of glass. We don't publish price ranges, because a range would mislead: the price depends on your exact glass and window. In our experience, a glass repair usually costs about a third of a medium-quality full window replacement, and about a fifth of a high-end one. Send two photos and we can usually send your exact price within minutes during business hours.

How long does the repair take once you arrive?

Regular-size clear glass is usually replaced in one visit, most of the time within 2 hours. Special glass is measured first and installed when it arrives, usually 2 to 3 weeks later.

Do I need to be home for the estimate?

No. The quote comes from your photos, so there's no estimate appointment.

Should I repair or replace the window?

If the frame is solid, a glass or hardware repair is usually the right fit. If the frame is rotted, or cracked or warped too badly to hold new glass, the window likely needs replacing, and we'll say so.

What photos should I send?

One photo of the full window taken from inside and one close-up of the problem. That's usually all we need to give you a price.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester counties in Pennsylvania, plus 13 New Jersey counties: Camden, Burlington, Mercer, Gloucester, Salem, Atlantic, Ocean, Monmouth, Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Morris, and Essex.
